Service Description

Ceremonial experiences are designed to interrupt habitual patterns of perception and create the conditions for conscious change. The brain does not experience the present as a blank slate. It interprets new information through memory, conditioning, and the internal narrative that tells us who we are. The Default Mode Network helps organize self-referential thought, autobiographical memory, and our sense of identity. But when its patterns become rigid, the past can continue shaping what we perceive, believe, and choose. We participate in state altering ceremony to temporarily loosen familiar network activity and increase receptivity to new information. We activate pathways associated with neuroplasticity, including those involving brain-derived neurotrophic factor, or BDNF. But plasticity is not transformation. It is possibility. Ceremony gives that opening direction. Through preparation, intentional disruption, and integration, we create the conditions for old patterns to become visible and new ones to become possible.
